...as a bonus.
I don't think AC/DC are really threatened by Tribute Bands. Considering MP3 trading and counterfeit CDs I'd say Hells bells are the least of their problems.
Do you have a URL for AC/DC's official position on tributes? |

No probs painintheass, you haven't upset me at all. I just thought that you were taking the whole thing a bit too seriously. What I saw when I went to the Hells Bells gig at the Fleece was some good entertainment. How close does a tribute band need to be? I thought they were rather good - but of course that's my opinion and everyone should make up their own mind.
If I didn't like them I wouldn't bother seeing them again. I thought that your posting was rather harsh and far too 'Black and White'.
I've got right back into AC/DC having seen Hells Bells and have even bought an AC/DC album on CD I used to have on tape years ago as a result (yes it was an original and I wore it out). I understand your viewpoint even without the bread analogy but I just don't think it's as clear cut as your white/brown/yellow illustration.
When does a tribute cease to be a tribute? I felt the Fleece gig came across as a tribute according to the definition you have just looked up and I treated the other stuff as |

I don't expect that posting to the bookings contact complaining that some of the set wasn't AC/DC will get you very far especially as there is a forum here for discussion. I'm surprised that you even got a reply!
I've not seen AC/DC do covers of other stuff either. I have seen plenty of other bands do odd covers on occasions though. The bonus Motorhead and Maiden covers obviously weren't to your liking but it's impossible to please all the people all the time. There were plenty of people who thoroughly enjoyed them at the Fleece judging by the huge applause.
Hells Bells do a good job of entertaining people and judging by the response they get it's working for the vast majority of fans. It's a pity it wasn't to your liking but everyone has different tastes and you've proved to yourself that Hells Bells aren't your cup of tea. I don't agree that you can tell people how they should judge a band. The way I judge a band is if it sounds good to me then I think it's good. I let everyone make up their o |

well.............its not, i can see this is going to end in a nasty way.
They wont tolerate this act for much longer and will make a slight effort on there behalf to have it changed (this i can assure you).
Hope the gig goes well at the bulldog bash and it leads onto better gigs, i really do and i hope you dont upset alot of punters with the act you guys pulloff
Keep up the great work!!!
Maybe some Zepplin covers would win more over but just lose the AC/DC tribute act, because you're not.
Thanks for the opportunity to express a thought.
have a nice day |

Alan, sorry if i upset you or anyone that adores the band hells bells, they are a great band and great musicians too, BUT, as i said you cant class yourself as a tribute when the act isnt what you advertise. understand?
Let me put it in a way that you might understand.
If i went and bought a loaf of bread that said it was white and when i got home, opened the packet and found it to be white, brown, yellow and any other colour then i would be a tadd confused at first the upset because i`m sure the packet said white.
See where i`m going with this?
I`m not out to destroy anything or stupid like that, i know the band (ac/dc) ok? and i know their feelings towards tributes. They are aware of hells bells and opening up at the Bulldog Bash seems to be (to you) the be and end all of gigs...........well? |

'A tribute band is not acually the real thing.'
Quite correct it ain't, BUT, should be as close as humanly possible to the real deal. Covering Motorhead & Iron Maiden is not something I've seen AC/DC do too often! When I sent an e mail to the band contact, complaining, I was told I was 'narrow minded'. Is that what Hells Bells want to do, insult anyone who dares criticise them??
The issue, is that Hells Bells are no more than a rock covers act, with an Angus Young lookalike. People should judge a DC tribute on how close they are to the real thing. From what I saw at the Tumbledown Dick, they aren't that close. Also, what about the revenue that Hells Bells are making fom the sale of the CD?? Is any of that going back to AC/DC? Moreover, what is the point of it? Why not go out & buy one of the albums by the original band? If Hells Bells are that high a quality & that close to AC/DC, then no-one will notice the difference, will they?!

Oh dear painintheass. You appear to have totally missed the point haven't you!
If you need to know what the word tribute means then perhaps you should buy a dictionary. I'll let you into some general knowledge as a clue. I think everybody should have at least one clue and I have some spare so here goes...
A tribute band is not acually the real thing.
Everybody going to one of Hells Bells' gigs knows it - apart from you apparently. If you don't like it then don't go - it's as easy as that. If nobody enjoyed the gigs then do you think Hells Bells would keep pulling in the crowds that they do and have so many regular fans? DOH!
As for your personal goal of letting AC/DC know about the act - I should think they already do. You don't open the Bulldog Bash without getting noticed! I'm sure AC/DC don't complain about the revenue from AC/DC albums that are sold as a result of people seeing quality tribute bands like Hells Bells. |

The previous message was cut short, sorry
i wanted to say DONT PUT PROFILES ON HERE FOR GODSSAKE!!!!
You guys need to change you're format
you cant class yourselves as an AC/DC tribute and one thats a universal giant when your act is the way it is
you (lee) are an embarressment to the industry and basically a crook.
You are fleecing everyone that comes to your gigs, ac/dc and everyone in the industry.
Unless you change your format (name, sets and bio) you cant perform the way you are without having "Thief" tagged onto you. sorry guys but its the way i feel and being a free country have every right to express it. i will, however, tell you that it wont stop here. I`ll make it a personal goal to let the main band know of this pathetic act you have. |

You cant, and i cannot stress this enough, CANNOT class yourselves as an AC/DC tribute when your act is performed the way it is.
